December Meeting ~

Last Wednesday was our December meeting...and being December, we decided to take it easy and make it an all craft afternoon.  First we enjoyed smoothies and snacks, thanks to Oriana and Amber....yum!  Then the girls made holiday ornaments for their parents with the photos i took of them at our first meeting.
There were some really creative ornaments made, and i think all the girls had a good time....but i think they loved those smoothies most of all :)
Happy Holidays girls!!!

Holiday Slumber Party ~

Last weekend, for our first activity, we decided to do a slumber party at the fire station!  The kids were very excited, and once there, they couldnt wait to throw on their pjs and start in on the fun!
There was a lot of running and laughing...games and music...

and we even made time for Girl Scout badges!  The daisies worked on their Lupe the Lupine patch, and learned about being honest and fair...
while the Brownies had an art show!  Each girl hung up their work and talked about the different things they learned while painting.  There were pieces that represented emotions, nature, and the girls even used some new techniques...with shaving cream, painting with objects found around the house, like a spoon or a stick, and then they just painted for fun!  Well done girls!  This show earned them their painting patch.  Yeah!

After pizza and snacks it was time for...the gift exchange...

Once the goodies were open, the girls decided to play with their new gifts and games...

This headband game was quite popular...even the troop leaders got in on the action!
Finally, it was time to wind down, so we popped up some popcorn, and watched the new Tinkerbell movie
Until the movie ended...then it was time to dance, dance, dance..........

 and dance some more :)

Okay, seriously girls...its time to go to bed!  The last few kiddos finally fell asleep around 11:30, and the room fell quiet to soft snores....ahhhhh, sweet music!
Not too bad for our first adventure!

Our First Meeting ~

We had our first official meeting yesterday...and i think everyone had a blast!  We had a lot to cover, and the craft took longer than we thought so our meeting went 1/2 an hour over, but i dont think anyone minded :)  We had a snack of popcorn and apples, thank you Eva...then it was time for our craft!

We had two projects we were working on...first, each girl made a friendship tree to keep...
and then we made friendship tree "thank you" cards to send to our sponsors.  While we worked on our crafts, we also discussed badges.  The Brownies will be working on their Painting legacy badge and the Juniors will be working on their Drawing legacy badge.  The completion of this badge will take place at a Girl Scout sleepover next month in the form of an art show for the whole troop to enjoy!
Meanwhile our Daisies earned the first patch in their "3 cheers for animals" journey, so they were excited to take home those last night.  They also earned the center of their Daisy in the petals patches.  So as i said, LOTS of stuff to cover yesterday!
Meet our crazy, intelligent, funny and beautiful Troop!
I look forward to working with these girls!!

We Have a New Girl Scout Troop!

Hi, Im Lisa, and ill be the new Co-Troop Leader with my good friend Sharon!  We are excited to be starting a troop up here in the mountains...as you can imagine, group activities for the kids are difficult and hard to come by being an hour from town, so we decided to start our own girl scout troop right up here, and the response has been fantastic!
The girls were so fired up after the family meeting, that they've been asking me almost daily, when our next meeting will be.  I hope we can keep that energy and enthusiasm going, as we have lots of fun things in the planning stages for our girls.  We will be scheduling one meeting a month and one fun activity a month, and if it goes well, we may add more meetings and certainly more activities, but with limited funds, we will keep our adventures on the thrifty side for now.
Which reminds me...we have had several generous donations made to our troop to help get us started, so i would like to thank them here at this time...

Jo Johnson
Christine Wolfe
Kat Brandow
Donna Soucek
Amber Ellinger
Dave & Joy Smith
and
Canyon Utilities
Without your help, our troop would not be possible, so thank you for your kindness!

Our uniforms and books arrived last week, so its really starting to come together!  Our first official meeting will be November 14th, so stay tuned for the adventures of troop 4288!  Oh, and i may be a little rusty (about 35 years rusty) but here is a photo of me back in my girl scout days!  I hope we can create wonderful memories for the girls like the ones i have from my days in scouts!
