November Meeting ~
We had a great meeting last week...Serenity and Bella presented their Pet patches, way to go girls, while Sharon read a story to the Daisies. We enjoyed a delicious snack of apples and goldfish crackers (thank you Eva and Nicole) and then we worked on our crafts. Our craft was a lot of fun, something i found on Pinterest, however, it kept me busy during the entire meeting, so i didnt get any photos :( I took this one of Jordyn and i, modeling our bracelets when we got home. Now i need to come up with a craft for next month, so if you have any ideas, send em my way! :)

Girl Scout Day at Dinosaur Ridge ~
Girl Scout Day at Dinosaur Ridge was on Saturday, October 12th and it was a blast! None of us had ever been there before, so we were all curious to see what it was like. They had over a dozen booths set up for the girls to explore, several of which helped them to earn steps towards patches, and some of them were just plain fun.
We were greeted at the entrance by Mr. Bones, and we all laughed and took several pictures with him. Here he is about to eat Nicole and Jordyn :)
Then we took the shuttle up the hill to see the dinosaur prints and fossils in the rocks of Dinosaur Ridge!
Did you know the very first Stegosaurus fossil ever found, was found right here at Dinosaur Ridge? In fact, the National Fossil of Colorado is the Stegosaurus :) Here the kids are checking the rocks for radiation...the radiation count goes way up where the dinosaur's fossil is...very cool indeed!

The girls got to paint fossils, look for meteorite fragments with magnets, pan for gold and other gems, dig for fossils, dress up in old time clothes, check out cool things under a microscope, bird watch, and even pet giant cockroaches.

It was a great day filled with all kinds of cool dinosaur facts and fun!

October Meeting ~
Being October, and our first official meeting of the season, we decided to have a little fun! First i handed out the patch assignments to the girls, most of them wanted to work on their pet patch or playing the past....and then it was on to face painting!
Ms. Melody came up with the face painting idea and provided the paint sticks, so a big THANKS goes out to her for this months activity! She was sick and couldnt come, but please know, Melody, that your idea was a HUGE hit with the girls (and one little brother too)! :)
While the older girls were getting started with their face painting, Ms. Sharon read a few pages out of the Daisy book for the Daisies, so that Lana could earn her first patch. When the story was finished, the Daisies joined the rest of the girls for face painting and our craft...
When the girls were done painting their faces, they made friendship pins for their uniform, made from colored beads, a safety pin, and a red-stoned silver feather charm to represent Red Feather.

Look at this frightening bunch! I think these kids are fired up for Halloween!!!
So fired up in fact, that they quickly painted the first dad to walk in the door! What a good sport you are Brian...i hope you didnt have any trouble washing out your purple beard! :) heheheheh
More adventures coming soon!

September Meeting ~ Making Dog Treats
The library asked us if we would be interested in making some dog treats for their booth at the Dog Festival this month, and we happily agreed. This sounded like a wonderful way to give back to the community and the library as a thank you for letting us use their facility each month, so at our September meeting, thats what we did!
We have 4 more girls in our troop...which makes a total of 18 now!!! WOW!!! Maria is one of the new moms, and she joined us in making dog treats...in fact, she ran this whole table, which was a huge help!
We made rolled cookies and also some no-bake cookie balls. These were a lot of fun to make, and very sticky! :)
Im not sure what crazy cheer Maria had them doing here, but they were having a ball!
While some of the girls took breaks, i had them choose the next badge they wanted to work on. Most all of the brownies picked the "pets" patch, so that should be fun. Im looking forward to another exciting year with our troop...these girls are the best!
