May The Force Be With You ~

Our troop went to the Denver Art Museum today to check out the Star Wars Costume exhibit...and it was AWESOME!  They had costumes and props from all of the Star Wars movies, and the displays were incredible.

There were a lot of original sketches and storyboards, and each piece was beautiful.

After the Star Wars exhibit, we went to lunch at Pint's Pub.

Then we headed back to the museum to check out more art.  This exhibit was popular with the girls...

we also checked out The Glory of Venice exhibit...which was also beautifully decorated.
The girls got to play around in the design room and create some costumes...they really liked this part of the museum.
Then we went over to the old building, and with very little time left, we did a quick jaunt on each floor to see as much as we could.
There was another hands on project which the girls enjoyed...and then it was time to head home.
What a great time we had at the museum...I look forward to our next adventure!

November Meeting ~

Our first official meeting was today, and the girls made Veterans Day cards for the Fox Acres Luncheon.  Its sort of become a tradition and the girls really enjoy making them.  It was nice having a smaller group...we all fit at the two tables, and there was a lot less chaos.

After the girls finished their cards, they looked through the GS book to decide what patches they'd like to work on next.  We also handed out patches from the pumpkin patch/corn maze we did last week.  The girls are looking forward to our adventures at the Denver Art Museum on the 20th too.  Stay tuned for more fun!

October Meeting at the Pumpkin Patch ~

Instead of having a meeting to kick off our new season of girl scouts, we decided to go to the pumpkin patch instead!  With a smaller troop, it is so much easier to pack up and go...in fact we can fit all the girls in our two cars most of the time, so that will make it a lot easier to plan last minute adventures like this!
We enjoyed visiting the animals...playing on the playground...wagon fun...and then it was time for a hayride!

It was really windy when we first got there and we were a bit disappointed the weather would stay that way, but after 15 minutes, the sun came back out and the girls ditched their coats to enjoy the perfect day!

After the hayride, we decided to check out the corn maze...this years corn maze was well constructed and the paths were nice and clear so you didnt have to trip over a bunch of rows.
Jordyn and Serenity were the first ones out of the corn maze...and thankfully no one got lost inside!
Now it was time to get down to business and hunt for pumpkins.

It was a bit of a hike to get to the best pumpkins, but the girls were up for the challenge!

We scored some beautiful pumpkins, and hauled our loot back to the car!  We all had a great time, and decided this was the best way to kick off the new girl scout year!!!

Fall Campout and Bridging Ceremony

What a gorgeous weekend for a campout at the Black Bear Cabin!  We were nervous about what the weather was going to do, but it all turned out beautifully!
We started things off by having our bridging ceremony first.  Bella, Ayla and Aspen will be moving on from our troop, and we will miss them, but its been a lot of fun!
Then we set up tents, and the kids immediately began to play in the river!

At night the girls enjoyed light sabers, throwing glowing foam swords and playing zombie and ghost games.  We also enjoyed s'mores, songs and music by the fire.   The kids went to sleep much earlier than we expected, so the moms stayed up late and enjoyed some cozy time by the fire!  We did not have any visitors from the raccoon this time around, but we were concerned about bears (with all the car damage lately), so we kept watch pretty late!  All was quiet though, and it was a peaceful night!
 Good Morning Girls!

Early to bed...early to rise!  ugh!  :)  The girls ran around playing while we got breakfast ready...they jumped around on the trampoline, played on the rope swing, and most of them couldn't get in the river fast enough, no matter how chilly the morning air was!

That's okay though...breakfast by the fire helped warm them back up!
Then it was off to more river fun!

Some of us headed down to the island for some climbing...

While others continued to enjoy the sunshine on the river!

What a great time!!!
 Girls RULE!!!
