March Meeting ~

Darlene at the library offered to do a painting class for our March meeting, and the girls were thrilled.  Darlene shared a book with them about different artists, colors, and styles.  Then she gave them a quick demo, and let them loose with their canvases.

All of the paintings were very different, but full of color and fun!  Alas, most of the girls left with their paintings before i could get pictures of all of them, but here are a few samples of the meetings creativity...

Thank you for helping out at our meeting Darlene...the girls had a blast!

February Meeting ~ Making Valentines

We had a lot of fun at our February meeting...and since the last two meetings had been canceled, we were all happy to see each other too :)  We started the meeting off working on our Valentine cards, so they had time to dry before the next step.  Then we enjoyed a snack provided by Nicole, Thank you Nicole.  While we waited for our projects to dry, Nicole did a presentation for her pet patch.  She shared this very cute drawing of her animals Mr. Nibbles and Marshmallow.  Way to go Nicole!  The girls did some research to find out which patches they wanted to work on next, and then we finished working on our cards...and since today is Valentines day, i think its safe to share these pictures now! :)

The girls did a beautiful job, and there are going to be some very lucky Valentines out there today!
Happy Valentines Day Everyone!

December Sleepover at the Fire Station ~

Now that the holidays are over and things have settled down, i can get caught up on our blog!  :)  Our December meeting was canceled due to weather, but we had a sleepover at the fire station on December 14th, and the girls had a great time!
We had a gift exchange, and we also collected gifts for toys for tots.  Rehna and Jordyn did presentations to earn a new patch and then it was time for dinner.

We enjoyed lasagna and other goodies and then it was time for some scrap booking fun...

We had photos of our troop adventures over the last year printed and each girl got a large stack of photos to choose from for their books.

The girls really got into scrap booking and came up with some wonderful pages!  They had stickers, pretty paper, colorful letters and fancy scissors to create their masterpieces...

and then it was time for more silliness and fun :)

We decided to quiet things down after a while and put in a movie...Elf and then Epic...the girls just werent ready for bed yet!
So we decided to work on some crafts while we enjoyed the movies...rubber band bracelets and yarn snow hat ornaments.
This kept the girls busy for hours!!!  Finally, at 2 am, i had to call lights out...the girls just couldnt get enough of those crafts...but i needed some sleep :)
It was another terrific sleepover with lots of great memories made!  I look forward to the next adventure!

November Meeting ~

We had a great meeting last week...Serenity and Bella presented their Pet patches, way to go girls, while Sharon read a story to the Daisies.  We enjoyed a delicious snack of apples and goldfish crackers (thank you Eva and Nicole) and then we worked on our crafts.  Our craft was a lot of fun, something i found on Pinterest, however, it kept me busy during the entire meeting, so i didnt get any photos :(  I took this one of Jordyn and i, modeling our bracelets when we got home.  Now i need to come up with a craft for next month, so if you have any ideas, send em my way!  :)

Girl Scout Day at Dinosaur Ridge ~

Girl Scout Day at Dinosaur Ridge was on Saturday, October 12th and it was a blast!  None of us had ever been there before, so we were all curious to see what it was like.  They had over a dozen booths set up for the girls to explore, several of which helped them to earn steps towards patches, and some of them were just plain fun.
We were greeted at the entrance by Mr. Bones, and we all laughed and took several pictures with him.  Here he is about to eat Nicole and Jordyn :)
The girls got to paint fossils, look for meteorite fragments with magnets, pan for gold and other gems, dig for fossils, dress up in old time clothes, check out cool things under a microscope, bird watch, and even pet giant cockroaches.

Then we took the shuttle up the hill to see the dinosaur prints and fossils in the rocks of Dinosaur Ridge!

Did you know the very first Stegosaurus fossil ever found, was found right here at Dinosaur Ridge?  In fact, the National Fossil of Colorado is the Stegosaurus  :)   Here the kids are checking the rocks for radiation...the radiation count goes way up where the dinosaur's fossil is...very cool indeed!

It was a great day filled with all kinds of cool dinosaur facts and fun!
